This year’s CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Awards was a mix of the fashion industry’s old guard as well as some exciting emerging designers. Designer Shayne Oliver’s avant-garde hip-hop brand Hood by Air took home the Swarovski Award for Menswear, while Pharrell Williams snagged a The Fashion Icon Award. As with past years, everyone brought their “A” game to the red carpet in looks that could be considered more subdued, yet chic alternatives to the more theatrical styles that show up on the red carpet at the Met Gala. Sadly, Rihanna didn’t make an appearance.
