For SS16 designer South African-born, London-based designer Sindiso Khumalo draws inspiration from pregnancy and childbirth and the Venda and Zulu women of South Africa.

“I became fascinated with this idea of what we create and what we leave behind when we bring life into the world,” says the eponymously-named brand’s founder, whose latest work was inspired by her own pregnancy and the birth of her son. “Whilst working in my studio, white on white hand-prints began to represent the idea of memory, the life before the new life held within a print… Bright dynamic digital prints began to speak of a the new life that was created after birth.”

The collection, which features intricate textile techniques earned Khumalo a win at Vogue Italia’s 2015 “Who is on Next?” held in Dubai.
