EPIX Announces Pam Grier Movie Marathon.

Pam Grier Movie Marathon

Actress and cultural icon Pam Grier is considered to be the first female action star. Grier rose to fame in the 1970’s by starring in blaxploitation, prison, and action films with a feminist bent.

Since then, the North Carolina native has expanded into many different genres from animation to dramas, like Showtime’s “The L Word,” in addition to roles in action films. Grier famously starred in the 1997 action thriller Jackie Brown , directed by Quentin Tarrantino.

Despite having a career that crossed generations and different social and political eras, fans of all ages recognize Grier’s early films, not only for her sex appeal, but for her barrier-breaking strength and movie legend status.

This Saturday, as part of an ongoing schedule of programming in honor of Black History Month, EPIX will pay homage to Pam Grier, with a 24-hour movie marathon featuring some of Grier’s earlier iconic films. See the list of films below, and check your local listings.
