Erykah Badu has joined forces with Marni for a new limited edition capsule collection. The twenty-four year-old fashion house and the songstress and artist are a perfect match in a collection that highlights Badu’s eclectic style and Marni’s signature colorways. The Badu x Marni collection is heavy on knits, colorblocking, metallic accents and more. Standout pieces include a gold jacket and an oversized knit shawl.
“The inspiration was silhouettes — it started with my 1997 silhouette, the towering head wrap and patchwork materials, patches and pieces and homemade things, because I didn’t work in fashion a lot,” Badu recently told The Zoe Report. “I didn’t really even know a lot of designers. I worked with people I knew and creatives and designers that were young and upcoming and could help me to see my vision through, or for me to be a muse for their creation.”
The collaboration celebrates Badu’s ongoing relationship with Marni. In 2022 she hit the Met Gala red carpet in an original Marni creation. At this years Gala, Badu was joined by daughter Puma, who also sported a striking Marni ensemble, alongside creative director Francesco Risso. Risso, who has helmed Marni since 2016, has played a major part in the brand’s current look and celebrity collaborations. In true celebrity fashion, Risso and Badu feted the new collection a Met Gala pre-party in soho. Attendees included Tracee Ellis Ross and Teyana Taylor.

The Marni x Erykah Badu collection is currently available in select Marni boutiques. Pieces will available in European boutiques in the coming weeks.
