Nourie Makes Natural Braiding Hair From Plants

For customers on the hunt for all natural braiding hair, the search is becoming even easier. Nourie is the latest company to offer plant based braiding hair in a variety of colors.

Created by CEO and co-founder Osahon Ojeaga and chief scientific officer and co-founder Dr. Mary Ellen Moore, Nourie offers an eco-friendly option for your favorite protective styles. Ojeaga spent four years working for start-ups in Silicon Valley before striking out on her own. She noticed a lack of options for customers seeking natural, environmentally-friendly braiding hair and decided to fill the gap by starting her own company, Nourie. Ojeaga and Moore spent countless hours researching and testing Nourie’s hair before finally arriving at a quality finished product. The company is off to a strong start; in 2022, Nourie raised $2.5 million in a round of seed funding. The round was led by Impact America Fund, Better Ventures, and SOSV’s IndieBio. Nourie has also seen a slate of press, including features from WWD, The Root, Black Enterprise, and many more.

According to Ojeaga and Moore, Nourie offers high quality hair that “can withstand water, gel, some high heat temps, and other common styling techniques.” Nourie hair looks and feels like human hair, without the irritation that can often come with synthetic based brands. It also releases a “balanced nutrient complex over over time during wear”.
This complex boasts “natural Ginseng extract (promotes hair growth), Jojoba (hypoallergenic), and Rosemary (antifungal).”

Nourie hair is currently in pre-order. Customers can choose from braiding hair in three colors — After Dusk, Onyx, and Redwood.
