Black Girls Rock! is, by far, my favorite red carpet every year. The hair! The outfits! The overall slayage! And of course, there’s the fact that this unique space pays homage to black girls and women who are often overlooked by “mainstream” media.
This year was no different. The red carpet saw so many wildly talented women, from Rihanna to industrious tween Marley Dias.
Rihanna, the recipient of this year’s Rock Star award left attendees with an inspirational message.
“Thank you so much for celebrating us in a world that doesn’t celebrate us enough,” she said. “The minute you learn to love yourself, you will not want to be anybody else.”
