Teyonah Parris, Yara Shahidi, and Johnetta “Netta” Elzie Cover Essence Magazine’s ‘#BlackGirlMagic Class of 2016’ Issue.

Essence is definitely starting off 2016 with bang. The long-running fashion and culture bible for black women is all about #blackgirlmagic for it’s February issue. The issue, which features three separate covers, stars Teyonah Parris of Chi-Raq and Dear White People Fame, activist Johnetta “Netta” Elzie, and black-ish star Yara Shahidi.

The issue also celebrates influential and inspirational black women and girls who have excelled in a variety of fields, including world class gymnast Simone Biles, activists Jessica Byrd and Bree Newsome, and actresses Zendaya and Aja Naomi King.
