The Ebony Exodus Project and Why Some Black Women are Leaving Religion.

The Ebony Exodus Project

According to research, nearly 8 in 10 black women say religion is very important to them. One author, a former minister, now secular counselor, thinks religion might be too important in the lives of many black women.

Candace R. M. Gorham, the author of “The Ebony Exodus Project” thinks that being too reliant on religion is jeopardizing the mental health of many black women. She doesn’t preach or advocate atheism, instead, she urges religious black women to question and to seek answers outside of the church. Here’s a brief video of the author talking about the goals of the book in her own words.
