The View Renewed for 20th Season. Candi Carter Becomes First Black Women Executive Producer.

Candi Carter

Despite claims that the show is knocking on death’s door, The View has officially been renewed its 20th season. The show, which sparked controversy during its past season, thanks to several comments about race by newly minted host Raven-Symoné, will ironically be adding it’s first black women Executive Producer, Candi Carter.

According to a press release,

Carter joined the show last August, serving as the interim showrunner. She has extensive television credits with over two decades of experience, best known for her work as a senior/supervising producer at “The Oprah Winfrey Show” for over 15 years. She’s overseen a wide range of programming, from big events and musical performances to fashion and talent shows and surprise reunions. Carter executive-produced breaking news programs, specials and live town halls, including a Hurricane Katrina anniversary special, for BET.

No word yet on whether or not Carter’s hiring might change the direction of the show, but here’s to hoping we don’t end up with anymore social media firestorms.
