It’s almost here! This weekend, the long awaited Afropunkfest will finally be taking place in Brooklyn, New York.
This week’s edition of the Village Voice covers the history of this event, ten years in the making. AfroPunkFest, which hosted approximately 60,000 attendees last year without incident, has become an alternative “safe space” of sorts for alternative looking and thinking black youth of all kinds. We are definitely looking forward to this year’s festival. For a full listing of performers and an event schedule, head to the AfroPunkFest website.
