Jamaican-born artist Ebony G. Patterson employs complex, highly embellished large-scale works to explore the politics of gender. Anonymous black men with highly decorated faces account for much of the subjects in her works. Her latest series of painting includes images of these mysterious men splayed about, implying a dark element to the vibrant, fantastical worlds that Patterson creates.
These works are currently on display in New Orleans, Lousiana until January 25th, as part of the Prospect.3 Bienniel exhibtion.
