While she’s still under the age of 5, North West is definitely a trendsetter. North, who has been spotted in some serious designer pieces, is frequently snapped in custom Balmain. This should come as no surprise, considering that her famous parents, and famous aunts have all starred in ads for the brand, and are close friends with the brand’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing .

After creating custom pieces for North, Rousteing was inspired to expand into children’s wear.

“I think I first thought about designing kidswear when I dressed North,” Rousteing said. “I had a conversation with Kim, and that was the beginning of how I really understood that the Balmain universe can also belong to kids.”

Balmain unveiled images from the forthcoming 55-piece collection on Instagram. Cropped jackets and tutu’s, which North West has been captured by the paparazzi wearing, featuring prominently.

“When you see the Balmain children’s pieces, you can see the references that are actually part of the Balmain women’s and men’s wardrobes,” Rousteing said. “Balmain is also about diversity, and I think the casting and the pictures show that no matter where you come from, the Balmain army is open and all the kids from the world are a part of it.”
