After a successful Indiegogo campaign, Black Hair Everywhere launched earlier this fall. The searchable database was created by Pearl McPhee, a recent college grad who created the site after crowd sourcing customer needs using Tumblr. Black Hair Everywhere serves as a sort of “Yelp” for black hair salons by allowing potential customers to search salons by location and services offered. Users can leave reviews and upload pictures their hairstyles, while salons can interact directly with potential customers and get feedback.
I tried searching the site for my zipcode, which sadly doesn’t have much in the way of black hair salons, and I was definitely impressed.
