Vogue went to Lupita Nyong’o’s family village in Kenya for its October issue. Nyong’o wears Prada, 3.1. Phillip Lim, Duro Olowu, and more as she poses with locals as well as her Queen of Katwe co-stars.

In the accompanying interview, Nyong’o talked about her career so far, upcoming projects, and her long term goals.

“I want to create opportunities for other people of color because I’m fortunate enough to have a platform to do that,” said Nyong’o. “That is why Eclipsed and even Queen of Katwe are so important, to change the narrative, offer a new lens on African identity.”
