Lupita Nyong’o’s $150,000 Oscar Dress — Stolen?

Actress Lupita Nyong’o was the talk of the Oscars this past Sunday when she hit the red carpet in a custom creation by Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein. The intricate handmade dress was required over 6,000 pearls and hours of labor, and is worth an estimated $150,000.

Now it seems that the dress may have been stolen. Several news outlets are reporting that a police report was filed, stating that the dress was taken from Nyong’o’s hotel room at the London West Hollywood Hotel.

According to the Daily News,

“We got a call at about 11:30 last night from someone at the London Hotel about a high value dress that was stolen from a hotel room,” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Officer John Mitchell confirmed.

Police are now reviewing surveillance footage from the hotel that was filmed between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday — the period in which the thief struck, law enforcement sources told TMZ. Nyong’o was not in the room at the time.
