Queen Latifah To Produce TV Movie About Kevin Durant’s Mother, Wanda Pratt.

Queen Latifah Kevin Durant

When Oklahoma City Thunder player Kevin Durant tearfully declared “You the real MVP” in a speech about his mother Wanda Pratt, the emotional moment soon went viral. While many appreciated Durant’s genuine show of appreciation and affection for a woman who had sacrificed so much for him, others found his choice of phrase rather amusing.

The phrase, which is forever immortalized in pop culture history, will now serve as part of the title for an upcoming Lifetime Television movie. Actress Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit production company has teamed up with A+E Studios to produce The Real MVP: The Wanda Pratt Story.

Cassandra Freeman (Single Ladies) will star as Wanda; Tracie Thoms (Rent, Death Proof) will star as her best friend. Actress Pauletta Washington (Wilma) will portray her mother, Barbara.

Production is currently underway for the film, which will premiere on Mother’s Day. The project marks Flavor Unit’s second Lifetime movie, the first was a reboot of Steel Magnolias. The production company is also behind the HBO television movie and awards season darling Bessie, which Latifah starred in.
