New York based designer Courtney Smith offers lots of options with her stylish, vibrant, and affordable fashion brand, Rum + Coke. With sizes ranging from small to 3XL, as well as several additional customization options, Rum + Coke has something for everyone. If you shop Rum + Coke via their website however, you’ll notice something different about it’s model, the “standard” models for the brand are all plus-size.
Smith had this to say to Refinery 29 about her conscious decision to showcase her brand using only plus-size models of color,
“No one questions why there are only small women in other brands’ shoots. I put women of color and ‘larger’ women in my photo shoots for many reasons. One, because I believe in the multiplicity of beauty, and two, there are so many women who seldom see women who look like them in advertisements.”
