
Shot by Paola Kudacki, filmmaker Ava DuVernay shines on an all white cover for the latest issue of Elle Magazine. As part of the publication’s “Women in Hollywood” feature, DuVernay joins Mia Farrow, Carey Mulligan, Salma Hayak, Dakota Johnson, and Amy Schumer, each of whom feature on solo covers.
In the accompanying interview, DuVernay talking about the creative process, and making Selma.
“It was important to me when I took over the film and rewrote the script that there were those silences and spaces where these icons are being people,” she tells Elle.
The filmmaker also shared her cover with a celebratory Tweet.
