African American artist Simone Leigh is on the shortlist of artists for the Spring 2018 season at New York’s famed High Line. Leigh is a multidisciplinary artist who uses sculpture and video installations to explore black female subjectivity. Her work is informed by her studies in the fields of African art, feminism, and performance.
If chosen, a large scale version of a piece from Leigh’s ongoing series Anatomy of Architecture, which centers around the black female body would be prominently displayed at the High Line.
