Boho Style Outfit Ideas

What sort of started out as a pauper’s way to dress ended up pretty much a trend. If you’re familiar with the 60s and 70s, you would know that the Boho (short for Bohemian) style of dressing is inspired by those generations. At that time, it was usually referred to as a hippie style. Yet even before that, much of this style is seen in gypsy clothing and accessories.

Long flowing skirts, peasant blouses, ethnic touches, embroidered patterns, flat sandals, and scarves as hair accessories are all part of the entire look, which is always a colorful one.

Today’s boho outfits are often mixed with some other modern-day trends. It’s better to avoid a complete boho outfit from head to toe. With a mix, the boho look can be worn for different types of occasions, even formal ones, and not just reserved for the beach or festivities, such as concerts.

If the look is appealing to you, but you haven’t tried it yet, here are some ways to go for it.

The long skirt

This is always a good place to start and let’s be honest, it’s probably one of the things that attract us the most to the style. The maxi or long skirt is pretty much a stamp of the style, and you really can’t call your attire bohemian without it. Long printed skirts in paisley or floral prints with a plain tank top are fun choices to make. Pair that up with flat sandals and you’re pretty much in the boho-chic frame.

Peasant blouse

Some of the things to look for in tops is a loose, relaxed fit, various decorative trims like pom poms or ethnic prints, V necklines, off-shoulder cuts, and a half or ¾ length sleeves. Pairing it up with denim shorts, a midi skirt or a pair of flare jeans are the way to go. Speaking of jeans, jeans with frays or with patchwork are considered boho. Go with a plain shirt, tank or tunic and add layers like scarves or vests when dressing in boho jeans.

Harem pants

That’s an image that often conjures up when we think Bohemian. For casual outfits, style your harem pants with a basic t-shirt or a simple solid-colored tank top. Since these pants come in stunning prints and styles, you need the focus for your outfit to be the pants and not overwhelm the eye with too many other prints going on. Stick with neutral colors like black, white, beige, or pastels in solid colors. What also works are simple solid-colored crochet tops if that’s what you prefer.

What used to be a signature for the young, modern-day boho outfits can suit women of all ages; with a little bit of tweaking here and there. The boho style has never really disappeared and now reappearing. The style has continued to evolve, staying relevant throughout the eras, yet also remains timeless. Because of this evolution, you can choose to be an edgy, chic or even elegant Bohemian. The choice depends on your linking.
