Chewing Gum creator and star Michaela Coel features in the latest issue of VIBE Magazine. The British show became a hit in the United States after season 1 premiered on Netflix last year. Season 2 dropped today, and Coel has been receiving a flurry of Stateside press in anticipation of the premiere.
She shared her thoughts about her success and being a black creator:
“I’m black, I’m dark and I’m f**king beautiful. My skin is gorgeous, I love myself, people with good eyesight love me too, and the rest of the world can f**k themselves.”
