West African fabrics and prints are a signature part of Haitian-Italian designer Stella Jean’s work. In her most recent seasons, Jean has been effortlessly weaving different cultures and different histories into her well-known aesthetic. For fall of 2018, Jean decided to go sporty by crafting a collection inspired by the friendship between iconic African-American athlete Jesse Owens and German athlete Luz Long at the 1936 olympics.
The resulting collection was a mix of uniform-style motifs, functional sportwear, and stylish dresses.
