Make Sure They Know, You’re Just Dark Enough To Hold Up The Sun.

Kai Davis

Kai Davis is a spoken word poet based in Philadelphia. Here’s Davis’ latest piece titled “Black Girl”. The piece speaks about the complexities of colorism and the effects on our black girls. Also peppered throughout the piece are line upon line of loving reassurance from Davis. She spits, “so when someone says you’re too dark, make sure they know, you’re just dark enough to hold up the sun.”
