For his FW16 Collection presentation, New York-based designer David Hart sent an all-black cast of male models, complete with musical instruments. The show, which made a statement about diversity, also paid homage to the Jazz Age.
Hart, the son of a musician grew up listen to artists like Miles Davis, Sunny Rollins and Max Roach.
“I wanted to pay homage to the jazz age in a very authentic way where it felt real,” he told Mashable during the presentation. “All of the photos I was inspired by was with these musicians who played in them.”
“I wanted to play to the diversity in modeling,” says Hart. “My show is so diverse — we have guys from Senegal, South America, Haiti, to New Jersey.”
