Is a Destiny’s Child reunion on the horizon? After the iconic R&B group launched a verified Instagram account rumors of a reunion began swirling around.
The official account, which has been up and running since last weekend, is managed by Sony Music Entertainment. So far it’s amassed 36,000 followers and only has four pictures up. Each of the image captions marks a major milestone in the trio’s career.
“‘Girl’ became the fifth Destiny’s Child single to earn a gold record from the RIAA on this day in 2005,” reads the first post on the account.
Destiny’s Child officially split in 2006, but each member had already released their first solo project well before then. Beyoncé dropped her debut solo album Dangerously in Love in 2003, while Michelle Williams released Heart to Yours and Kelly Rowland debuted Simply Deep, both in 2002.
Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle hit the stage together in 2013 during Beyoncé’s Super Bowl halftime performance. The group hasn’t performed together since, but as next year will mark the 20th anniversary of Destiny’s Child, fans are speculating a reunion tour might be in store.
