Singer and actress Halle Bailey just shared an exciting sneak peek of the exclusive Ariel doll, soon to be released by Mattel. The star of The Little Mermaid was filled was emotion as she unveiled the doll, made in her likeness.

“I have my own Little Mermaid Ariel doll !!! I can’t believe how much she captures my version of this iconic character brb gonna go cry now,” Bailey added.

Speaking with Variety last month, Bailey shared words of encouragement from her grandparents, who supported her through ongoing backlash over her casting as Ariel.

“It was an inspiring and beautiful thing to hear their words of encouragement, telling me, ‘You don’t understand what this is doing for us, for our community, for all the little Black and brown girls who are going to see themselves in you,’” Bailey said.

The new Ariel doll, which features an updated version of the character’s signature top and tail is set to hit shelves on April 23 on Amazon, at Target, and select toy stores. It is also currently available for pre-order on Target.com.

The Little Mermaid is in theaters on May 26, 2023.
