When the Fugees catapulted into mainstream fame with their sophomore album The Score in 1996, Lauryn Hill was definitely a standout member of the group. Critics and fans alike hoped that Hill would embark on a solo career. In 1998 after rumors of her solo career and the rumored romance that broke up the group, Lauryn Hill graced fans with what would become a legendary solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
In honor of Hill’s 40th birthday, the Smoking Section recently shared this mix, a Lauryn Hill-Only version of The Score.
