It looks like HBO will finally allow viewers to watch their favorite series the legal, cost-effective way. The streaming service might also be giving Netflix a run for its money.

HBO chief Richard Plepler recently announced at an investors meeting, that the new service is geared toward users who don’t have a cable or satellite subscription. Plepler described the target market as “broadband only” homes, a rapidly growing demographic.

There is no word on a launch date or fees for the new service, yet, however.
