Bantu Wax J. Crew

Founded in 2008 by Ethiopian-American designer Yodit Eklund, Bantu Wax pays homage to African surf culture. The brand recently paired up with fashion giant J. Crew for an exclusive collection. According to J. Crew,

Africa may not generally be known for its surf culture, but swimwear line Bantu is about to change that. Named after the word for “gateway” in Wolof (a native language used in Senegal), Bantu’s mission is to introduce the world to the vibrant beach culture of coastal Africa through its bold swim styles and surfboards. Using only local vendors and artisans, Bantu sustainably makes swimsuits that juxtapose African wax cloth prints with modern beachwear in high-performing Italian fabrics. Even better, you can only find these colors here.
