New Zealand designer and hipster cool staple Karen Walker has partnered with the United Nations’ Ethical Fashion Initiative as part of her new “Visible” collection campaign.
While I’m often skeptical of these sorts of collaborations, especially when African nations are involved, the Ethical Fashion Initiative’s motto of “Not Charity, Just Work” and their assertion that “we are not a charity” definitely makes me look at this project differently. Plus the fact that I’m quite the fan of Karen Walker doesn’t hurt either. The campaigns also work to show the diversity of the Kenyan people has the images feature people from different communities and different ages in all types of dress all rocking awesome Karen Walker specs.
