Meet Kelly Carrington. Canada’s First Male Doula.

Kelly Carrington Male Doula Canada

A Doula can be an integral part of pregnancy and childbirth by providing support for expectant and new mothers. According to DONA International, “the world’s premiere doula organization”, while a doula is not a replacement for a doctor or nurse, the presence of a doula can “result in shorter labors with fewer complications” and even help with postpartum depression.

There are certified doulas all over the world, the majority of them being women. And now Canadian Kelly Carrington is one of the few men providing this unique and important service. Carrington is a registered massage therapist who became interested in becoming a doula as a way to provide support for some his regular clients who became pregnant. It took him over 2 years of training to become a certified doula and now he is making waves as Canada’s first male in this particular field.
