I’ve been mostly trying to ignore the Republican National Convention, for the sake of my sanity, until this little gem popped up on my timeline late last night.
Apparently, Melania Trump, wife of Donald Trump and generally a woman of few words, delivered a pretty plagiarized speech during yesterday’s festivities.
As journalist Jarrett Hill points out, Mrs. Trump’s speech featured a paragraph lifted almost entirely from Michelle Obama’s speech at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
CORRECTION: Melania stole a whole graph from Michelle's speech. #GOPConvention

The short clip below, also confirms Trump’s thievery.

The discovery comes just hours after Trump did an interview claiming that she had worked on the speech herself over several days.
At 1:15, Melania is asked about her speech and says, "I wrote it"https://t.co/os6zrffsQ0

Naturally Twitter had a field day with this one, and the memes and jokes started rolling in.
But to reiterate (and to paraphrase @tvoti), the real speechwriter's scandal here is this ACTUAL RICKROLL?!?!?!?!?! pic.twitter.com/eSuFbbVs43
