Naomi Campbell slays through her tears in this new music video by ANOHNI — an artist, activist and the singer of Antony and the Johnsons.
Last month, ANOHNI who is transgender, made headlines when when she wrote an open essay about her decision to attend the Oscars after scoring a nomination for track “Manta Ray,” from the documentary Racing Extinction. Despite her nomination and the fact that she is the second openly trans person to be nominated, she was not invited to perform at the Awards show.
According to a press release, “‘Drone Bomb Me’ is a love song written from the perspective of a young girl in Afghanistan whose family has been executed by unmanned U.S. drones. She dreams of being annihilated.”
Naomi Campbell features in the visuals for the track, which were directed by Nabil (who has collaborated with Frank Ocean, Kanye West, and FKA twigs, in the past).
ANOHNI’s album HOPELESSNESS, which includes tracks titled “Execution,” “Obama,” and “Violent Men,” is out May 6 via Secretly Canadian/Rough Trade.
