This year’s “Glamour Women of the Year” awards maintained a celebratory mood while acknowledging the post-election blues.
“Do I wear black because I’m in mourning? Do I go to a costume shop and get armor?,” joked Tracee Ellis Ross when she took the stage.
The Wins
Big winners of the evening included Olympic gymnast Simone Biles who received “The Record Breaker” award. Black Lives Matter founders Alicia Garza, Opal Tometi, and Patrisse Cullors were also honored, with a “Justice Seekers” awards. The three women brought the crowd to their feet with an inspiration acceptance speech.
