Queen Latifah Jada Pinkett Smith

Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith are headed to the big screen together for the first time in 20 years. The two stars are in talks to play lifelong friends in Universal Pictures’ Girl Trip. The last time Latifah and Smith starred in a film together was in the 1996 feature film and cult favorite Set it Off.

Girl Trip will be scripted by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver. According to Deadline, the film “focuses on four friends who travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival, where sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered, with some drinking, romancing and even brawling thrown in for good measure.”

Girl Trip is expected to hit theaters on July 21, 2017. It will be produced by Will Packer and directed by Malcolm Lee who most recently directed The Best Man Holiday and Barbershop 3.
