While Rihanna is definitely a pop Renaissance woman, her film resume is surprisingly slim. But with news of a starring role in an upcoming film by acclaimed sci-fi/action director Luc Besson, it looks Rihanna might become a big screen staple.

Besson recently took to Instagram to announce that the pop star will be a “major” part of his upcoming futuristic film Valérian and the City of a Thousand Planets. According to Variety, the time-traveling tale, which is an adaptation of the Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres’ graphic novel, takes place in the 28th century.

Production for Valerian, which is slated for a summer 2017 release, will take place in Saint-Denis, France, in the outskirts of Paris.
