A few journalists, recently revealed, via Twitter, an evite that had been making the rounds for a private gallery showing featuring Rihanna. The show would be the unveiling of the artwork to be featured on the cover of the pop artist’s long-awaited eighth studio album.

The news definitely came as a surprise to many fans. Rumors circulated that Rihanna would be shelving the album to focus on her fashion endeavors, after some of her recent singles didn’t do as well as expected.

Tonight, as anticipated, Rihanna unveiled the work — alongside artist Roy Nachum. Nachum created the original artwork by employing childhood photos of Rihanna layered with oil and ash on canvas. The cover art also features a poem written in Braille.

The show also revealed some additional for the upcoming project as well.
