Solange-Inspired Book Features Testimonies From Black Women About Their ‘Seat at the Table.’

Solange Testimonies From the Table

Solange’s critically acclaimed album A Seat at the Table inspired young black women artists all over the globe.

In Testimonies From the Table, 61 black women feature in polaroid portraits and share their firsthand narratives. The project was conceived and compiled by Seher Sikander, a New York-based Pakistani-American artist and creative.

Sikander, who hand-delivered the original Testimonies From the Table to Solange, wrote about her choice to create the book:

“..until black women are free — or any oppressed peoples for that matter — none of us are free. i am facilitating this project because i believe that black women — my fellow humans — have a right to exist peacefully in their humanity.”

Testimonies From the table is available for download for free, or you can pre-order a hard copy HERE. Check out a preview of the book below.
