There’s been a lull in recent years in the showcasing of spoken word poetry in the mainstream.
Days of old, where networks the likes of HBO and BET showcased talented artist on stage. Even so, the art form is still being performed in coffee shops and artistic spaces all about. I surmise that if people have things to say, which they do, that poetry in the spoken tongue will survive the test of time. Check Gina Loring’s HBO: Def Jam performance of her piece “You Move Me.”
