Muslim fashion is big business and major retailers are increasingly expanding their offerings to include their Muslim shoppers.
Last year, Japanese retail giant Uniqlo teamed up with Muslim blogger and designer Hana Tajima to offer an original line clothing based on Tajima’s popular personal style. The line which offered breezy tunics, wide leg pants, and most significantly hijab options in Uniqlo’s distinct fabrics and colorways. The collection, which was first released in southeast Asia, was wildly popular with shoppers, and now it will be heading to the United States and the United Kingdom.
The 99-piece collection has a broad appeal and is not strictly for Muslim women or modest dressers. Many of pieces make for great layering options. Some of the collection’s offerings include denim trousers, a wrap skirt, and an open-back camisole dress
“The clothing is always for everybody,” says Tajima. “For me, personally, I like this idea that someone from a completely different background or a completely different style could see a piece in the collection and think, ‘I could really work that into what I want to wear.’ “
Uniqlo’s Hana Tajima LifeWear Collection hits stores in the U.S. and the U.K. on February 26.
