Brought to you by Anne Makepeace and Makepeace productions, “We Still Live Here” is a documentary that gives insight into the complexities of defining identity when you are both of African and American Indian descent. The documentary features Black Indians of Wampanoag and African heritage sharing their experiences and perspective on issues like retaining their rich cultural heritage and encountering colorism.

According to the documentary’s creators,

We Still Live Here – Âs Nutayuneân (FULL Documentary) is the story of the revitalization of the Wampanoag language, the first time a language with no native speakers has been revived in this country. The Wampanoag’s ancestors ensured the survival of the Pilgrims in New England, and lived to regret it. Nevertheless, through resilience and courage they kept their identity alive and remained on their ancestral lands. Now a cultural revival is taking place.
