Daymé Arocena. ‘ Nueva Era.’ Eclectic Sounds From An Afro-Cuban Jazz Artist.

Dayme Arocena

From her name to her distinct sound, Daymé Arocena is all about fusion. The Afro-Cuban artist, who hails from a small neighborhood in Havana, Cuba, combines classical training in music with a specialization in Jazz, with the rhythms and vocalizations that she learned from the streets of her native city. The 23-year-old artist also draws inspiration from her practice of Santeria, the Afro-Caribbean religion which blend West African Yoruba beliefs and Roman Catholicism.

Listen to samples from her latest, Nueva Era, the album is available on BandCamp.
