Documentaries. Beauty Is. On Beauty, from a Pan African Perspective.

Beauty Is, Toyin Agbetu,, Black Beauty Standards

Brought to you by filmmaker Toyin Agbetu, “Beauty Is” is a collection of interviews from a diverse set of individuals ranging from scholars to hairstylists to parents. So far all we have is a trailer, with release dates pending, but it’s really clear in the trailer that “Beauty” is attempts to dig a little deeper than traditional debates about good hair/bad hair or light skin/dark skin dichotomies. Proof that beauty standards always need a global perspective.

  1. Thank you Superselected for sharing info on my new film beauty is. You are right in that the film delves far deeper than the usual hair as beauty debate and addresses areas ranging from media, education and weaves to skin bleaching, relationships, confidence and character and even religion.
