Born in Dakar, Senegal to a Mauritanian father and a Senegalese mother, Marema is all about mixing and blending different cultures and genres. The emerging singer/songwriter credits Tracy Chapman as a major influence. Her sound is an eclectic mix of various cultures of the diaspora with elements of soul, reggae, folk and classic rock and blues.
